Lenovo Announces 2nd Battery Recall Program (March 6, 2007)
Lenovo is recalling certain 9-cell lithium-ion, rechargeable batteries that were used with various models of their portable lines sold between November 2005 and February 2007. There is a possibility that these batteries can overheat, which could cause a fire risk. [more...]

2007 Daylight Savings Time (February 23, 2007)
Beginning in 2007, Daylight Saving Time (DST) has been extended by four weeks. It will begin on the 2nd Sunday of March (March 11th) and end on the first Sunday of November (November 4th). This change will have an impact on many computer operating systems and on calendaring software. Microsoft and Apple have released patches for their more current operating systems that account for the new DST rules. In addition, most calendar software products have patches to correct for the new DST rules. [more...]

Windows Vista Released (January 29, 2007)
On January 30, 2007 Microsoft will release Vista, a new version of its Windows operating system. Not surprisingly, Vista is incompatible with certain other applications in use at Penn, and so Information Systems & Computing (ISC) recommends postponing adoption of Vista. [more...]

Microsoft Announces Office 2007 (January 29, 2007)
On January 30th, 2007 Microsoft released Office 2007 for Windows, the latest version of this software suite which includes applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
