COMPONENT Table - Data Element Index

Active_Ind

The Active Indicator is either A for Active, meaning this component can be used by students and advisors in building worksheets, or I for Inactive, meaning users cannot use this component in Advisor InTouch. Worksheet builders use the Active_Ind to control use of components, particularly during component development, and also once a component becomes obsolete.

Values:

A - this component can be used by students and advisors in building worksheets

I - this component cannot be used by students and advisors in building worksheets

Catalog_Term The first term in which the requirements in this component went into effect. Catalog term is used to distinguish between different sets of requirements for the same Division/Degree program. Valid values are any 5 characters, or character and numeric combinations. Schools most commonly use the SRS term designation to determine Catalog_Term, in YYYYT format, for example, 2001C for the Fall of 2001. However, there is nothing to prevent a school from using something else in this field. For example, the College might use 2001P to indicate the component in effect for students who are using the degree requirements for the Pilot Curriculum program, to distinguish them from those students using the regular curriculum program designated as Catalog_Term 2001C.
Component_ID A unique identifier (numeric) for the Component. Used by the program that displays components in Advisor InTouch, but does not appear online to the users.
Component_Type

Categorizes the group of requirements contained in a component.

Values:

D - Division-wide requirements ("everyone getting this degree in this division must do these things")

M - Major requirements ("everyone taking this major must do these things")

N - Minor requirements ("everyone completing this minor must do these things")
