Notes on the PennERA Balances Diagram
If the diagram is
printed, landscape orientation and legal-sized paper (8.5 by 14 inches)
are recommended.
The PennERA Balances Universe combines tables from three data collections: PennERA
Proposals, Salary
Management, and General
Ledger. The diagram
illustrates the
architecture of the Universe, displaying the
tables that are included and the joins between the tables.
A table or view is shown in the diagram as a black-bordered box. The
background color of the box indicates the source data collection. White
is used for the PennERA Proposals tables,
grey
for
Salary
Management
tables, and green for General Ledger tables. Click on the box for a table
to see the documentation for that table. (Note: Users who are
authorized to use the PennERA Proposals data collection have access to
every
table in this Universe except for BALANCES. Users must be authorized
to use the General
Ledger
data collection in order to access the BALANCES table.)
A join is
shown
as a
line between
the
boxes for the joined tables. Labels next to the lines indicate the
join criteria.
In the Universe, a Business Objects Class folder roughly corresponds
to a table. However, some folders include Objects from reference tables
that are joined to the Class's table, but are not necessarily shown in
the diagram. (If the Class's table includes a coded data element, the
Class usually retrieves just the corresponding name or description from
the relevant reference table, rather than including all of that reference
table's data elements. For example, a Class that includes the proposal
responsible org. code may also include the description for that org.,
retrieved from the ORG_CODES table.) While viewing the diagram, click
on the blue
label next to a box to see the list of the reference tables and data
elements included in that Class, with links to the data documentation. Note:
if the diagram shows the Class's table joined to another table, and that
other
table
is also
used
as a reference table within the Class, that other table does not appear
in the list of the reference tables and data elements included in that
Class.
