New Tier 1 Data Center Now Open

July 17, 2013 :: Ray Davis, Executive Director, ISC Systems Engineering/Operations (SEO)

ISC is pleased to announce the opening of a new Tier I data center at South Bank. The brand new 2,500 square foot, 250kW facility provides immediate capacity for 40+ racks with considerable room for expansion, providing the much needed space for current and anticipated growth.

Seamlessly connected to the main campus networks with redundant 10 gig fiber optic links, the new facility will provide the research, academic and administrative community with computational power and digital storage for key strategic and operational initiatives.

The facility offers a safe and secure environment for sensitive equipment and data, in a restricted access environment, with video surveillance and 24 hour onsite security.

Both critical systems and environmentals are remotely monitored and controlled 365x24x7 for temperature, humidity and power; and the facility is equipped with pre-action, clean agent fire protection system to limit damage to equipment in the event of a fire.

For anyone interested in touring the data center, ISC will be hosting an open house on Tuesday, 07/23/13 from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM. For more information or to request a tour please contact ISC at DC-team-help@lists.upenn.edu.
