Investments Make Classrooms “Smarter”
September 20, 2011 :: Shirlely Ross, Information Systems and Computing
ISC upgraded more than 13 classrooms this summer, adding digital technology that records lectures and presentations for easy download and storage.
Technology “smart” classrooms mean students can “return” to a lecture to reinforce learning. ISC installed Lecture Capture in Central Pool Classrooms, including Claire Fagan Hall Auditorium, Graduate Education Building 203, LRSM Auditorium, and Stiteler Hall B6.
Work is in progress with the School of Engineering & Applied Science with the installation and operation of classroom recording capabilities in three of their non-Central Pool Classrooms: Berger Auditorium, Heilmeier Hall, and Wu & Chen Auditorium. In addition, recording is done in the Law School, School Of Medicine, and Wharton.
Last summer, ISC installed Lecture Capture in Claire Fagan Hall 218, Claudia Cohen Hall G17, and Leidy Laboratories 10.
This brings the number of high tech classrooms to 195, representing 95% of Penn classrooms.
