New Initiative Will Facilitate Penn’s Globalization
September 20, 2011 :: Shirley Ross, Iformation Systems and Computing
Penn’s commitment to global engagement is a critical part of the Penn Compact, the vision that guides the University. ISC is involved in a collaborative effort to facilitate Penn’s globalization.
Global programs are an essential part of life at Penn, from recruiting international students and faculty to developing creative programs to working directly with institutions of higher learning in other countries.
ISC will collaborate with the Office of the Provost and the Vice Provost for Global Initiatives to facilitate Penn’s global activities by providing new data collections and tracking capabilities for incoming students and scholars as well as for Penn travelers and operations abroad. The many data stewards campus-wide who collect information directly and indirectly about Penn’s global activities will play a critical role in gathering an inventory of the University’s myriad of international initiatives.
The initial inventory will be used for strategic plan development and will be a starting point for putting together a comprehensive and continually refreshed data collection with which to measure the University’s progress.
