Computerworld Magazine Ranks Penn's ISC #4 in "Best Place to Work" in U.S.; #1 in Mid-Atlantic

June 16, 2009 :: Shirley Ross, Information Systems and Computing

Computerworld Magazine has ranked Penn’s Information Systems & Computing organization #4 nationally in its annual 100 Best Places To Work In IT survey. Computerworld has also ranked Penn’s ISC the #1 employer for IT professionals in the Mid-Atlantic Region for the fifth consecutive year.

In past years, ISC’s national ranking in the Computerworld survey was 6th in 2008, 8th in 2007 and 2005, and 9th in 2006.

This is truly an honor since literally hundreds of companies and organizations participate in the survey. Computerworld uses a rigorous selection process that includes completion of an 80-question employer survey on categories such as work assignments, supervisory/management practices, career development, training, retention, diversity, recognition programs, and pay and benefits. In addition, approximately 35% of ISC employees, randomly selected, completed a web-based survey that went directly to a third party research firm.

ISC is in good company with General Mills, Monsanto, Verizon Wireless, University of Miami, Marriot, Exelon, Vanguard, Kraft Foods, Temple, Cornell, and Xerox among the 100 employers chosen from hundreds of candidates.

“I am honored on behalf of all ISC because the magazine is recognizing our strong collaborative culture, our innovative and exciting solutions on behalf of our clients, and the commitment of ISC employees to the Penn Compact,” said ISC Vice President Robin Beck.

The rankings are announced in the June 15 issue of Computerworld and are available on line at http://www.computerworld.com/2009bestplaces.
