BEN Assets Will Start April 2008

February 29, 2008 :: Shirley Ross, Information Systems and Computing

University wide rollout of BEN Assets, the new asset management system that will replace the Property Management system, is scheduled for April. Training for Property Management Administrators will take place in March, with new user and ongoing training to begin in April. BEN Assets will be a module within BEN Financials and is tightly integrated with existing modules: BEN Buys (purchasing), BEN Pays (accounts payable), and BEN Balances (general ledger). The Division of Finance and Information Systems & Computing collaborated on this project which will deliver improvements including: elimination of duplicate data entry when creating assets and of data integrity issues associated with invalid space; implementation of improvements to expedite asset tagging; and the availability of ad hoc reporting via the Asset Data Warehouse collection to enable more timely access to information. In addition, BEN Assets will provide the opportunity for greater indirect cost recoveries from research by being better able to associate research equipment with specific rooms rather than buildings currently used in our indirect cost proposal.
