Apple announces iBook logic board extension program

Effective January 28, 2004, Apple is offering a program to cover the repair or replacement of the logic boards of certain white iBook G3 models manufactured between May 2002 and April 2003 which could exhibit specific, video-related component failure. Apple states that the affected models may show the following symptoms:

• Scrambled or distorted video
• Appearance of unexpected lines on screen
• Intermittent video image
• Video freeze
• Blank screen on start-up

The program is available to iBook models with serial numbers in the following range:
     UV220XXXXXX to UV318XXXXXX

There are no safety issues connected with this component failure.

Apple will repair or replace the logic board of affected iBooks at its own expense, and will reimburse individuals for eligible repairs that were made before the program was offered. Only an Apple technical support representative, Authorized Apple Service Provider (such as Computer Fixer), or Apple Store Mac Genius can determine if component failure exists in a qualifying iBook.
