Data Warehouse website unveils new look
June 1, 2003 :: Amy Miller, ISC Data Administration
The Data Warehouse website (http://www.upenn.edu/computing/da/dw)
is sporting a new look, in concert with the Computing Web upgrade. The
site has a new navigation structure, visible in the blue left-hand navigation
bar, to help both new or occasional and frequent visitors find the information
they need quickly and consistently. Pages grouped under "Query the
Warehouse" provide guidance about getting started, access, passwords,
forms, software and training. Other Warehouse-related information, like
update status, remote access, security and a link to the Data Administration
site are available under "Related Information".
Data that flows into the Warehouse from assorted administrative source
systems (BEN Financials, Payroll, SRS, etc.) is documented in collection-specific
sub-sites, all accessible under "Data Collections." Regular
visitors to the Warehouse site will recognize the standard data collection
pages -- refresh schedule, data diagrams, table and element documentation,
training, security, help -- all easily accessible from collection-specific
menu bars at the top each collection's pages. Finally, a new page highlights
querying across data collections, and the universes that facilitate that
sort of reporting.
If you have comments or questions about the new Warehouse website, please
