FINANCIAL_DEPARTMENT Table
Explanation
Lookup table for financial department codes in the format used in the financial
system that was used at Penn before July 1, 1996. Contains the department code,
school code, and department name. For example, the name that corresponds to
department code 11057 is "MARKETING."
Common Uses
- Displaying the name of the department instead of the department code that
appears in one of the related tables. ("Don't show the codes in the report.
Show the English instead.")

Cautions
- FIN_DEPARTMENT_CODE is the 5-digit department code used in the financial
system that was used at Penn before July 1, 1996. It is not the same as the
Organization code in the present General Ledger accounting structure (in use
at Penn since July 1, 1996).
