Description of No-email Codes

When you ask for a list of all members subscribed to your class, you will receive a list that includes:
  1. students subscribed by extracting data from the Data Warehouse.
  2. members subscribed through this Web interface
  3. students for whom the online Directory is unable to provide an email address
Preceding the listing of each student who had an email problem is a 2-letter code that helps to explain why the student's email address is missing. The codes that can appear are:
Code Problem Solution
NR The student has no record in the online Directory. The student should go to their school's computing center to either apply for an email address or find out why their existing email address has not been sent to the Directory by their school. A student who also happens to be a University of Pennsylvania staff member is eligible to use the Faculty/Staff Directory Update form to correct the Directory record.
BE The student has a record in the online Directory but the email address field is blank. Full time students cannot update their email address entries themselves. They must go to their school's computing center to either apply for an email address or find out why there is no email address in their online Directory entry. A student who also happens to be a University of Pennsylvania staff member is eligible to use the Faculty/Staff Directory Update form to correct the Directory record.
EX The student's record has been expired. The student's email address is no longer being sent to the online Directory by the school. This usually means that the student's email account no longer exists for that school. These student must go to their school's computing centers to find out why their record is no longer being sent.
