OCCUPANT_HISTORY Table

Explanation
Monthly snapshot of occupants assigned to rooms. This table is not directly related to the ROOM UTILIZATION table, which describes program activity and Principal Investigators. There can be more than one occupant per room and employees may occupy more than one room.

Requirements and policies for the entry of occupant data varies considerably from school to school.

Common Uses
To report over time on University employees who perform all or part of their activities within an assigned room.

Cautions

  • No data exists for this table prior to FY2003. From FY2003 and on, OCCUPANT_HISTORY contains one record per building, floor, room and occupant Penn ID for each snapshot period. For cases in which the snapshot is for the 13th fiscal month, the CALENDAR_MONTH will be set to 13.
  • Do not assume that all rooms have been assigned occupants, as policies vary from school to school.
  • Be aware of the difference between a Principal Investigator assigned space to pursue a grant and Occupant who performs his or her work in the designated space.
  • Contains historical building data; the OCCUPANT table is available to view current buildings data.
