Note:
If records are sorted by SPONSOR_DESC_AS_IS, values that include lower

and Interventional Radiology Research and Education Foundation'. Use
SPONSOR_DESC if you wish to sort records by the name of the sponsor.

SPONSOR_GRANDPARENT
Indexed - no
Format - varchar2 (10)
May be null? no |
The 5-character numeric code that uniquely identifies the sponsor's
grandparent roll-up group, per PennERA.
According to PennERA, a sponsor may have subagencies, which may themselves
have subagencies. For example, 'National Cancer Institute/NIH/DHHS'
(09472)
is
a subagency
of 'NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH' (09470), which is a subagency of 'DEPARTMENT
OF HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES' (09000).
In the Data Warehouse, '09000' (DEPARTMENT
OF HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES) is the
SPONSOR_GRANDPARENT
of '09472'
(National
Cancer Institute/NIH/DHHS). If a given proposal's sponsor is the National
Cancer Institute, the SPONSOR_GRANDPARENT enables you to create reports
listing the proposal under the DEPARTMENT
OF HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES, together
with
proposals whose sponsor is 'DEPARTMENT
OF HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES' and proposals
whose sponsor is one of DHHS's subagencies.
Currently,
the only sponsor grandparent listed in PennERA is DHHS. If a sponsor
has no grandparent according to PennERA, its SPONSOR_GRANDPARENT is the
same as its SPONSOR_PARENT.
Example: 09000 (DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES).
Values:
Refer to the PENNERA_SPONSOR Table for values.

SPONSOR_PARENT
Indexed - no
Format - varchar2 (10)
May be null? no |
The 5-character numeric code that uniquely identifies the sponsor's
parent roll-up group, per PennERA.
According to PennERA, some sponsors are subagencies of other sponsors.
For example, 'National Cancer Institute/NIH/DHHS'

the Data Warehouse, '09470' (NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH) is the
sponsor parent of '09472' (National Cancer Institute/NIH/DHHS). If a given
proposal's sponsor is the National Cancer Institute, the SPONSOR_PARENT
enables you to create reports listing the proposal under
the NATIONAL
INSTITUTES OF HEALTH, together with proposals whose sponsor is 'NATIONAL INSTITUTES
OF HEALTH' and proposals whose sponsor is one of the NIH's institutes or centers.
Currently,
there are sponsor parents for the
NIH,
the National Science Foundation (NSF), and other sponsors that have subagencies
listed in PennERA. If the
sponsor has no parent according to PennERA, its SPONSOR_PARENT is
the same as its SPONSOR_CODE. Example: '09470' (NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH)

Refer to the PENNERA_SPONSOR Table for values.
