- Subject_Area
|
The code for the subject area. For example: LAW (Law),
MATH (Mathematics), ROML (Romance Languages), SYS (Systems), WSTD (Women's
Studies). A Subject Area describes the academic discipline under which
a group of courses is offered. The Subject Area Code is used as the first
four positions of the seven-byte course ID, and it is used as the first
four
positions
of
the
ten-byte
course section ID. For example, section 510 of MATH121 would have
the following course section ID: MATH121510. "MATH" is the Subject
Area. If the Subject Area code is less than four bytes, the course ID
and course section ID will have spaces in them. |
- Subject_Area_Desc
|
The full name of each subject area, corresponding to the Subject_Area
code. For example: the full name of SYS is Systems. |
School_Code |
The Subject Area School
Code is the two-byte code for the school with which the subject area is
associated.
See also the SCHOOL table. |
Subject_Num_Code |
The Subject Area Numeric Code is a three-digit code used instead of the
alphanumeric code in systems that require a number, for example, the PARIS
registration system. Not all subject areas have numeric codes. |
