V_STDNT_TYPE table

Explanation

This is a validation table, containing the codes and descriptions for student Types.. The Type indicates whether a student is considered a new or continuing undergraduate, a new or continuing grad student, a visiting student, an exchange student, etc.

The warehouse V_STDNT_TYPE table is refreshed in batch mode from the Operational Data Store (ODS), which gets its data from the Banner database. The UPENN_ODS source table is SATURN_STVSTYP.

Cautions and notes

• The student Type is found on both the curriculum (ST_DEGREE_TERM) and the term record (ST_TERM). For students in multiple concurrent curricula, the student Type on the term record is populated based on Penn's rules regarding which type takes prescendence. For example, a submatriculating student's Type in ST_TERM will reflect the type associated with their primary undergraduate program in the term.
