V_SCHED_TYPE table

Explanation

This is a validation table, containing the values and descriptions for codes that define the activity type of a scheduled course section in a term.

The warehouse V_SCHED_TYPE table is refreshed in batch mode from the Operational Data Store (ODS), which gets its data from the Banner database. The UPENN_ODS source table is SATURN_STVSCHD.

Cautions and notes

• In the source system, "schedule" and "section" are sometimes used interchangeably. The Schedule Type is the type of course section. This is similar to the "activity type" found on the COURSE record, but more specific to scheduled sections, with values like 'LEC' = Lecture, but also values like 'L01' = Lecture 1, 'L02' = Lecture 2, 'L03' = Lecture 3, etc.
