Explanation

This is a validation table, containing the values and descriptions for codes used to identify categories to which academic award codes can be assigned. Includes categories such as Baccalaureate Degree, Associate Degree, First Professional Degree, etc. This validation table is referenced in the Degree validation table, V_DEGREE.

The warehouse V_ACAD_AWARD_CAT table is refreshed in batch mode from the Operational Data Store (ODS), which gets its data from the Banner database. The UPENN_ODS source table is SATURN_STVACAT.
