COURSE SECTION ATTRIBUTE table

Explanation

Contains information about the course attributes assigned to a course section in a term. There is one row in this table per course section (a distinct crn), per term, per attribute. A course section can have zero attributes, and a course section can have multiple attributes. Attributes on course sections can be used to identify degree requirements that the course can potentially be counted towards in Degree Works. Attributes can also identify other things about the course section, such as identifying SNF Paideia courses, multi-term courses, Ben Franklin honors courses, etc.

The warehouse CRSE_SECT_ATTRIBUTE table is refreshed in batch mode from the Operational Data Store (ODS), which gets its data from the Banner database. The UPENN_ODS source table is SATURN_SSRATTR.

Cautions and notes

• A course section can have multiple attributes. Attribute codes can describe any number of things about a course, for example the academic area that administers the course, for example "Humanities", or the degree requirements that the course can potentially be used to fulfill. course section attribute must exist on the course attributes file in order to be used on a section. See CRSE_ATTRIBUTE
• Course attributes and Course Section attributes have codes assigned that follow some naming conventions that can assist with reporting. For example, attribute codes that start with 'GM' are attributes used with courses taught in the Graduate School of Education, attributes codes that start with 'NU' are attributes used with courses taught in the School of Nursing, etc. See V_CRSE_PROG_V
