    The 5-character code that identifies the external organization that sponsors a fund. (The code comes from PennERA, the system used at Penn since August 26, 2003 to track information on sponsored project awards.) A fund is the unique identifier for a specific set of financial resources that needs tracking or management.

    Codes less than or equal to 599999 were assigned to the sponsor by InfoEd (the vendor of the PennERA software). Codes greater than or equal to 60000 were assigned to the sponsor by the Office of Research Services.

    Identifies the sponsoring entity that corresponds to the FUND_SPONSOR_CODE. (This comes from PennERA, the system used at Penn since August 26, 2003 to track information on sponsored project awards.)

    Examples: NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH (09470); SOCIETY FOR AMBULATORY ANESTHESIA (62776).

    Identifies the entity type for the external organization that sponsors a fund. (This comes from PennERA, the system used at Penn since August 26, 2003 to track information on sponsored project awards. The Office of Research Services assigns the type for each sponsor.) FUND_SPONSOR_TYPE is used to group sponsors according to their business.

    The 4-character code that identifies the external organization that sponsors the fund. A fund is the unique identifier for a specific set of financial resources that needs tracking or management.

    This code was formerly used in the General Ledger, and is currently used only in BRIM (the Billing and Receivables Information Management system used by the Office of Research Services).
