Support & Training

Computing at Penn is highly decentralized. Many Schools, departments, and organizations have their own web servers and web sites and provide targeted support information and training for their affiliates. Check School and other local web sites in addition to the resources on this page.

Support

For end users, support is most often offered at the local level. In addition, ISC offers specialized support services to Schools, business units, and Local Support Providers (LSPs). A summary of how primary computing support is organized at Penn is provided on the Penn Computing Model page.

Students - To get help with IT matters, students living in residences should consult their Information Technology Advisors (ITAs). Off-campus student should contact ISC's Computing Resource Center or First Call.

Faculty - Faculty most often obtain computing support from Local Support Providers (LSPs) in their Schools. At-home computing support is also available.

Staff - Computing support is provided by Local Support Providers (LSPs) in Schools, centers, and departments. At-home computing support is also available.

Schools, Departments, Administrative Offices - ISC's Support-on-Site (SOS) provides temporary and full-time support personnel, recruiting help, consulting, and project management planning.

Local Support Providers (LSPs) - ISC Client Care provides technical assistance to LSPs.

College House Computing - Provides computing support and information to students living in Penn's College Houses.

Financial Training Department (FTD) - Provides training on Penn's financial processes, procedures, and administrative systems.

ISC's Technology Training Services - Offers courses, training, and certification programs in IT and multimedia.

ISC's Technology Support Services - Provides Orientation sessions for IT professionals.

lynda.com @ Penn - Provides self-based instruction using video-based tutorials and courses that cover a wide selection of topics and software (authentication required).

Penn Library - Provides workshops, classes, and tutorials on the use of selected software and Library resources.

Safari Tech Books Online - Full text of popular IT titles to read or browse online (restricted to upenn.edu domain).
