ROOM_PROFILE Table - Data Element Index

 

Building_Code Building in which a course section meets. A course section can have up to six meeting patterns. Each meeting pattern consists of one or more days, the time, and the location at which the course section meets. For example: a course section can meet Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in Bennett Hall (BENN) and Tuesdays in Blockley Hall (BLOC).

Fims_Building_Code Facility Information Management System (FIMS) designation for a building. For example: 0416.

Fims_Floor_Code Facility Information Management System (FIMS) designation for a specific floor in a building. For example: GROUND, BASE, A, B.

Values:
Refer to the FIMS Table for values.

Fims_Room_Code Facility Information Management System (FIMS) designation for a specific room in a building. For example: 104, 301A, C41.

Values:

Room_Actual_Capacity
Number of people a room can actually accommodate. For example: the room can accommodate 35 people. Room capacity should not be confused with the largest number of persons who have met in the room which may be larger or smaller than the number it was designed to hold.

Free form text description of a room, describing the type of room or giving a name for the room. This data element may be null. Examples of values include "CLASSROOM-TABLET ARM CHAIRS" and "MODERN LANGUAGE SEMINAR RM".

Room_Design_Capacity Number of people the room is designed to hold. This data is derived from values in the Facilities Information Management System (FIMS). For example: the room is designed to hold 22 people.

Room_Number Identifies the room within a building. This may contain letters, numbers, and symbols. Examples include STD-2, A4, 101, 13, and LOUNG.

Room_Sched_Flag Indicates who is allowed to schedule courses and other events in this room. For example: courses and events in this room are scheduled by R (Registrar's Office).

R         Scheduled By Registrars Office

S         Scheduled By School Personnel

D         Scheduled By Department Personnel

B         Scheduled By School/Department Personnel

X         Out Of Service

Room_Dept_Priority_1 Indicates which departments receive priority when scheduling a course section for a particular room. Departments with priority have preference over those that do not. For departments with priority, all have equal claim on a room so that rooms are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. This information can be in one of five data elements: Room_Dept_Priority_1 through Room_Dept_Priority_5.

Room_School_Priority_1

Indicates which schools receive priority when scheduling a course section for a particular room. Schools with priority have preference over those that do not. For schools with priority, all have equal claim on a room so that rooms are scheduled on a first come, first serve basis. This information can be in one of five data elements: Room_School_Priority_1 through Room_School_Priority_5. For example: if AS (Arts & Sciences) is assigned to Room_School_Priority_1 for Williams Room 205 and NU (Nursing) is not assigned to any of the five priority positions, then AS has scheduling priority over NU. However, if AS is assigned to Room_School_Priority_1 for Williams Room 205 and NU is assigned to Room_School_Priority_2 for Williams Room 205, then both schools have equal claim on the room and the room is assigned to the first school who has requested it.

Room_Spec_Equip_1

Indicates the various types of equipment which are
available in a particular classroom. Up to 10 different types of equipment
can be stored in each room. For example: a room can have AIR (Air
Conditioning), COT (Coat Racks), COM (Computers).

Room_Term_Roll_Flag Indicates whether the course sections assigned to a particular room will roll from one term to the next like term (i.e., from this Fall term to the next Fall term or from this Spring term to the next Spring term). For each course section rolled, counters and flags are reset. This process is used to reduce the amount of data entry involved in SRS in setting up course sections for a new term.

Indicates whether a room or building is wheelchair accessible. For example: null means wheelchair accessibility is unknown, Y (Yes) means the room is wheelchair, and N (No) means the room is not wheelchair accessible.
