|
Indicates whether credit for this course counts towards a career other
than the career of the student's primary or secondary program at the time
the course was taken. This pointer is one of a set of three career pointers.
The student must be matriculated in this career. This is typically used
when a student starts a degree program to apply credit for courses taken
previously as a non-degree candidate. For example: credit for this course
will count towards MN (Master's Level, Nursing).

Change_Date |
The date of the most recent change to this student's enrollment for this
course section.
Date formats in the Warehouse depend on the query tool you are using
(Business Objects, GQL, SAS, SQL*Plus) and/or the settings you have established
for formatting dates on your computer. For example: dates in Business
Objects with Windows may be presented in the mmddyy format with a slash
(/) separator, e.g. 5/31/96.
|
Credit_Type |
The unit of measurement indicating how credits are measured for a course
section: CU (Course Units), SH (Semester Hours), CR (Credit Units). Credits
are used to calculate enrollment statistics for the student.
As part of its reaccreditation self-study in 2014, Penn determined that one course unit should be (and should always have been) translated as 4 semester hours. The change was only in how we describe the translation to external constituents. The change has no bearing on our internal practices.
See also Registered_Credit, Earned_Credit, and Qualtiy_Credit in the
CEN_STDT_ENROLLMENT Table.
Values:
CU Course Units
SH Semester Hours (Convert SH to CU using 3:1 ratio)
CR Credit Units (Convert CR to CU using 6:1 ratio)
|
Division_Flag |
Indicates the course section is offered by a division that charges a special
tuition rate. For example: null means no special tuition rate is charged
for the course section.
See also Division in the CEN_STDT_ACADEMIC_PROGRAM Table

|
Earned_Credit |
This data element is always null for records with extract type "C" (the
extract used for the STDTTERM Business Objects universe) because grades
are not assigned as of the Census Date and therefore offers no reporting
value in that context.
The Census
Date
is one week after the close of the drop period for the term.
Indicates the number of credit units, semester hours, or course units
the student is awarded upon successful completion of a course section.
Not every completed course section contributes to Earned_Credit in the
ENROLLMENT_ALL_V Table. Certain grade types do not earn credit, for example,
XX, XC, and NG.
See also Credit_Type in the CEN_STDT_ENROLLMENT Table.
|
Grade_Point |
This data element is always null for records with extract type "C" (the
extract used for the STDTTERM Business Objects universe) and therefore
offers no reporting value in that context. The Census Date is one week
after the close of the drop period for the term.
The numeric values that correspond to a grade earned for an enrollment
multiplied by the earned credit for that enrollment. This value is used
in the calculation of the grade point average (GPA).
|
Grade_Scheme |
This data element is always null for records with extract type "C" (the
extract used for the STDTTERM Business Objects universe) and therefore
offers no reporting value in that context.
Indicates the valid grades, marks and grade types for this student, for
this course section, based on the student's primary division and the school
offering the course. Used in conjunction with Grade_Type in the calculation
of Registered_Credit, Earned_Credit, Quality_Credit, Time_Status and Student_Classification
and in determining whether the student has reached Desired_Load or Max_Load
and in determining Dean's List.
|
Grade_Type |
Indicates the set of rules that will be used to process the grade or mark
this student receives for this course. For example: an enrollment with PF
means that the student is awarded a letter grade B and PF is printed on
the transcript. Used in conjunction with Grade_Type in the calculation of
Registered_Credit, Earned_Credit, Quality_Credit, Time_Status and Student_Classification
and in determining whether the student has reached Desired_Load or Max_Load
and in determining Dean's List.

is one week after the close of the drop period for the term. |
Official_Grade |
This data element is always null for records with extract type "C" (the
extract used for the STDTTERM Business Objects universe) and therefore
offers no reporting value in that context. The Census Date is one week
after the close of the drop period for the term. |
Penn_Id |
The 8-digit identification number assigned to the student by the PENNcard
system. No two persons have the same Penn_ID. Only persons affiliated with
the University will be assigned a Penn_ID. |
Previous_Grade |
This data element is always null for records with extract type "C" (the
extract used for the STDTTERM Business Objects universe) and therefore
offers no reporting value in that context. The Census Date is one week
after the close of the drop period for the term. |
Program_Pointer |
Indicates the academic program to which the enrollment is credited. See
also Program_Order in the CEN_STDT_ACADEMIC_PROGRAM Table. Example: 1 (the
enrollment is credited to the first academic program)
- Values:
1 First program
2 Second program
B Both programs
|
Quality_Credit |
Earned_Credits that are included in the grade point average (GPA). For
example: if a student passes a course taken Pass/Fail, Earned_Credits increase,
but Quality_Credits remain the same. If a student fails a course taken Pass/Fail,
Earned_Credits remain the same, but Quality_Credits increase. |
Registered_Credit |
The amount of credit this enrollment in a course section carries. Registered_Credit
is used to compute academic statistics.
See also Credit_Type, Earned_Credit, and Quality_Credit in the CEN_STDT_ENROLLMENT_ALL_V
Table.

degree. A school is an administrative unit in charge of degree programs.
Academic departments and divisions belong to schools.
Examples of school codes include EG (Engineering and Applied Sciences),
ED (Education) and LW (Law).
See also Degree_Order in the DEGREE_TERM_ALL_V table.
Values:
Refer to the SCHOOL table.
|
Section_Id |
Used to identify the course section in which the student has enrolled
for a specific term. It is composed of the Subject_Area, the Course_Number,
and the Section_Number. Note: Although a Section_Id may be used in more
than one term, the activity may be different in different terms. For example:
for Section_Id SYS 603001, SYS is the subject area, 603 is the course number,
and 001 is the section number.
The format for Section_Id is as follows:
Characters 1 to 4 are the alphabetic code for the subject area of the
academic discipline under which the course is offered. For example, in
Section_Id SYS 603001, SYS is the alphabetic code for the subject area.Characters
5 to 7 indicate the course number assigned to the course at the inventory
level. For example, in Section_Id SYS 603001, 603 is the course number.
Characters 8 to 10 indicate the section number for a specific course
section in a specific term. For example, in Section_Id SYS 603001, 001
is the section number.
Generally, term specific sections with a middle digit of 5 indicate that
the course was taken through Study Abroad.
|
Ssn |
The student's Social Security number; currently used by Penn as the student's
identification number. A Social Security number is a unique number assigned
to an individual by the federal Social Security Administration. This is
a 9-digit numeric character without dashes, for example, 777777777. For
foreign students and students who have requested not to use their Social
Security number, this number is assigned by Penn. |

Term_Session |
Indicates whether the course section is being taught for the entire term,
a part of the term, or as a special offering. For example: STAT621023 was
taught in the first half of 1995C and therefore has a value of 1.
Course sections are taught on the following basis: the first summer session
(1), the second summer session (2), and as a special offering (S). Course
sections offered with arbitrary begin and end dates are marked S.
Values:
[Null] Course section is being taught the entire term.

|
Term |
The term in which this student was enrolled for this course section.
Penn divides the academic year into 3 terms: Fall, Spring, and Summer.
Terms are designated by the 4-digit calendar year, followed by a term
code. The Spring term code is A, the Summer term code is B, and the Fall
term code is C. For example: 1995C means Fall 1995, 1996A means Spring
1996, and 1996B means Summer 1996
