Cautions

  • An employee may have several distribution records active at the same time. Distribution records are distinguished in COMP_DISTRIBUTION by the Comp_Person_Role_ID, Distribution_COA_Number, Distribution_Start_Date and Distribution_Stop_Date. Distributions from PennWorks are mapped to a maximum of eight distributions for each of the up to four job records for the employee in the mainframe Payroll system, where they are used for Payroll processing. (Once fed to the Payroll system, the resulting distribution records are extracted to the DWADMIN.EMPLOYEE_DISTRIBUTION table in the Data Warehouse.) Note: the EMPLOYEE_DISTRIBUTION table includes distribution history for employees who had Payroll records on or after July 1, 1996. For employees with Payroll records prior to October 2009, distribution data is available in the EMPLOYEE_DISTRIBUTION table only.
  • PennWorks allows users to indicate a state for a distribution, as "Final", "Projected", or "Disabled." Records with a "Projected" state can act as placeholders for planning purposes, and will be managed solely within PennWorks. The "Final" state indicates the record is ready to be processed by PennWorks and, when appropriate, updated in Payroll. "Disabled" records will no longer be visible in PennWorks, but are retained in the COMP_DISTRIBUTION table for historical purposes. Users may select to delete records from PennWorks; these rows are retained in in the Data Warehouse for historical purposes with a state of 'X'.
  • Refer to the COMP_DISTRIBUTION_EXT table for records of employee distributions from a source other than University of Pennsylvania Payroll system.
  • Historical snapshots of distribution information are available in the COMP_DISTRIBUTION_SNAP table, beginning with the NOV-09 period.
  • You can access a COMP_DISTRIBUTION row only if you are authorized to access data for the employee's home center or organization, the role center or organization, a current joint organization for the employee, the Distribution_COA_ORG, or the Distribution_COA_Resp_ORG.
  • The COMP_DISTRIBUTION table can be found in the DWCOMP schema.
