V_STDNT_STATUS table

Explanation

This is a validation table, containing the codes and descriptions for student Status. The Status indicates whether a student is active in a term or not.

The warehouse V_STDNT_STATUS table is refreshed in batch mode from the Operational Data Store (ODS), which gets its data from the Banner database. The UPENN_ODS source table is SATURN_STVSTST.

Cautions and notes

• Status pertains to a student in a term, and not to a specific curriculum. If a student is in multiple concurrent curricula, they can be active in one and not necessarily the other. For example, if a student in two degree programs exits one program mid-term and not the other, their status is still AS (active student).
• The change from AS (active student) to IG (inactive graduated) does not happen immediately on the day of graduation. There can be a lag time of days or even weeks following graduation before all of the graduated students' statuses switch to IG.
