V_STDNT_ATTR table

Explanation

This is a validation table, containing the codes and descriptions for student Attributes. Attributes describe characteristics of students in a term, such as their Penn Classification, or their PhD year, or the Penn Directory privacy opt-out. On Dissertation or on Masters Thesis are indicated using Attributes, as is participation in some scholar/honors programs such as BFS and Fontaine fellows.

The warehouse V_STDNT_ATTR table is refreshed in batch mode from the Operational Data Store (ODS), which gets its data from the Banner database. The UPENN_ODS source table is SATURN_STVATTS.

Cautions and notes

• In the warehouse, attributes are stored term-by-term. A student can have an unlimited number of attributes in a term, and attributes can change from one term to the next.
• Attributes may relate to a student's curriculum but there is nothing in the data itself to join to a curriculum record, so in the Data Warehouse attributes are specific to a student in a term and not to a student's program in a term.
