V_SITE table

Explanation

This is a validation table, containing the values for site codes. A site describes a geographic location, or in many cases, an external institution. This table also contains both the short and long descriptions of the site codes. In the future, this table may also contain the addresses of sites, when the site is an external institution.

The warehouse V_SITE table is refreshed in batch mode from the Operational Data Store (ODS), which gets its data from the Banner database. The UPENN_ODS source table is SATURN_STVSITE and UP_ST_UP_S_BANNER_LONG_DESC.

Cautions and notes

• Long descriptions can change, and thus have a start and end date. In the V_SITE table, you will find every iteration of a long description, and you can join to the table based on dates to get the description that pertains to any term in a student's record. To get just the most recent long description, use the view V_SITE_V.
• Legacy SRS "Special Program" codes for study abroad programs were converted into the Site code, and can be found in the ST_TERM table. The code for these sites match the old SRS study abroad program codes.
