V_NATIVE_CURRENCY table

Explanation

This is a validation table, containing the values and descriptions for the codes that types of course credits used at Penn. The Banner database stores all courses and course registrations with credit hours that are the same "currency" value regardless of the school offering the course. Howevre, at Penn, the "currency" or Credit Type of the credit hours depends on the school. While the majority of schools use the Credit Unit (CU), the Law School uses Semester Hours (SH) and the Dental and Vet Schools use Credit Units (CR).

Both values are stored in the Data Warehouse.

The warehouse V_NATIVE_CURRENCY table is refreshed in batch mode from the Operational Data Store (ODS), which gets its data from the Banner database. The UPENN_ODS source table is SATURN_STVCUDA.
