V_INSTRUCT_METHOD table

Explanation

This is a validation table, containing the values and descriptions for the codes that identify the instructional method used in a course and/or course section. Values include things like "Clinical Based," "Field Work," "Independent study," and "Online", etc.

The warehouse V_INSTRUCT_METHOD table is refreshed in batch mode from the Operational Data Store (ODS), which gets its data from the Banner database. The UPENN_ODS source table is GENERAL_GTVINSM.

Cautions and notes

• A student taking a course with the Instructional Method of "Online" is not necessarily an online student. The Instructional Method is an attribute of the course or course section, and not the student.
