V_HS_SUBJ table

Explanation

This is a validation table, containing the values and descriptions for the codes that subject areas of courses or programs of study that the student took at a secondary school prior to coming to Penn. It is generally used to identify languages studied in High School, that can be counted towards the completion of a language proficiency requirement.

The warehouse V_HS_SUBJ table is refreshed in batch mode from the Operational Data Store (ODS), which gets its data from the Banner database. The UPENN_ODS source table is SATURN_STVSBJC.

Cautions and notes

• The values used for High School languages taken should not be confused with a student's native language, the codes for which are found in the V_CITZ_LANG table.
