Student Race and Ethnicity Flat table

Explanation

A de-normalized view of race and ethnicity data, with one row per student. There are separate columns for each potential race or ethnicity code from which students can select their race/ethnic categories. If a student has self-identified as being in a any race or ethnic category, there will be a '1' in that corresponding column in this table, otherwise it will be '0'.

The warehouse ST_RACE_ETHNICITY_FLAT table is refreshed in batch mode from the Operational Data Store (ODS), which gets its data from the Banner database. The ODS source tables are UPENN_ODS.SATURN_SPRIDEN, UPENN_ODS.GENERAL_GORPRAC, and UPENN_ODS.GENERAL_GORRACE. In the online Pennant system, the data about students' email addresses can be viewed on the SPAIDEN form.

• Student Ethnicity, for Federal Reporting purposes, is not considered a race. Ethnicity appears in this table in the HIST_LAT_* columns.
