STUDENT INSTITUTIONAL HONOR table

Explanation

Contains the codes and descriptions of institutional honors given to graduating students. This includes "Latin Honors" and special Penn awards such as Order of the Coif.

The warehouse ST_INST_HONOR table is refreshed in batch mode from the Operational Data Store (ODS), which gets its data from the Banner database. The ODS source tables are UPENN_ODS.SATURN_SPRIDEN and UPENN_ODS.SATURN_SHRDGIH. In the online Pennant system, the data about students' departmental honors can be viewed on the SHADEGR form.

Common Uses

• Find students receiving institutional honors for a specified graduation year.

Cautions and notes

• The documentation for the data elements in the ST_INST_HONOR table is based on Banner's source documentation. How the "display on diploma" and "display on transcript" fields will be used at Penn is still tbd.
• Institutional honors do not include honors granted to specific majors. See the departmental honors in the ST_DEPT_HONOR table.
