ST_CITZ_LANG table

(dwngss_ps.st_citz_lang)

Explanation

Country of citizenship and native language information

Source

The warehouse ST_CITZ_LANG table is refreshed in batch mode from the Operational Data Store (ODS), which gets its data from the Banner database. The ODS source tables are UPENN_ODS.SATURN_SPRIDEN and UPENN_ODS.GENERAL_GOBINTL. In the online Pennant system, the data about students' email addresses can be viewed on the SPAIDEN form.

Common Uses

  • Identify the country of citizenship of international students.
  • Reporting on students' native languages.

Cautions and notes

  • In the source system (Banner) there can be only one record for country of citizenship. Dual citizenship, when both countries are non-US countries, cannot be reported on from this data collection. Dual citizenship, when one of the countries is the United States, can be derived from the data in the STUDENT table, in the field called CITIZEN_CODE which indicates when the student is a US citizen, along with the country of citizenship from the ST_CITZ_LANG table.
  • Similarly, only one native language can be stored in the source system.
