CLASS_RULES table

(dwngss_ps.class_rules)

Explanation

This is a validation table, containing the Student Classifications and the associated student level and range of credit hours. The granularity/primary key of the table is the combination of the Classification, Level, and sequence number.

Source

The warehouse CLASS RULES table is refreshed in batch mode from the Operational Data Store (ODS), which gets its data from the Banner database. The UPENN_ODS source table is SATURN_SGRCLSR.

Cautions and notes

  • The primary key is the combination of the Classification, Level, and Sequence number.
  • There may be more than one row for a Classification. For example, a "P2" classification is defined at the "PR" level in three rows: one with 0 - 7.999 CUs, one with 8 - 15.999 CUs, and one with 0 - 999.99 CUs.
  • NOTE: Classification and "Penn Classification" are two different data elements but are sometimes very similar. ie "JR" vs "PCJR".
