HCM_POSITION_HISTORY_GENERAL_V Table

Explanation
Contains historical non-confidential information about positions from Workday. The table includes positions managed in Workday as of July 1, 2019 or thereafter. Multiple versions of position records are included and are organized by active indicators and date columns.

Common Uses
To determine what positions a Worker holds (or has held) at a point in time, the supervisory organization for each role, when the role appointment begins, the associated job profile code and title.

Cautions

• The HCM_POSITION_HISTORY_GENERAL_V view contains a non-confidential history of changes to HCM_POSITION records. To view the current record for a position, use the HCM_POSITION table.
  • In HCM_POSITION_HISTORY_GENERAL_V, the RECORD_START and RECORD_END dates indicate the timeframe that a position history record was the “active” record.
  • Note: the RECORD_START and RECORD_END dates are not the dates when a change to a position was effective in Workday but rather the dates when a change to a position was first reflected in the warehouse (RECORD_START) and subsequently superseded (RECORD_END).
• The HCM_POSITION_HISTORY_GENERAL_V view contains historical records about positions managed in Workday, which came into use on July 1, 2019. In addition to currently filled positions, HCM_POSITION_ HISTORY_GENERAL_V may contain records about open or vacated positions.
• For information about roles and jobs in the legacy PennWorks and mainframe Personnel/Payroll systems, refer to the COMP_PERSON_ROLE and EMPLOYEE_JOB tables.
• For faculty workers, position records may be related to one or more academic appointments (available in HCM_ACAD_APPOINTMENT).
• You can access all HCM_POSITION_HISTORY_GENRAL_V rows if you are granted access to the view. To access confidential historical data about a position, use the HCM_POSITION_HISTORY table.
• The HCM_POSITION_HISTORY_GENERAL_V view can be found in the DWHCM schema.
