TRACKS Table

(dwsfa.fa_tracks)

Explanation
Defines tracks for specific cohorts of students in programs, and identifies the codes for the required documentation in those tracks, by year.

Common Usage examples

  • What financial aid documentation is required for incoming transfer students in 2011?

Primary Key Indexed Data Elements Related Tables
TRACK, TRACK_YEAR

FA_DOCUMENTS, FA_STANDARD_DOCS, FA_TRK_RPT

Cautions
  • SAM track codes are not used elsewhere in other student data collections. For example, the track "ADMFR" is defined in this table as "Admitted Freshman Dependent". This code cannot be used to find freshmen in SRS or BRS.
  • Documentation types can change from one year to the next. The FA_TRACKS table will identify the required documentation by number for a given TRACK and TRACK_YEAR, but the actual document must be decoded using the FA_DOCUMENTS table. For example, in 2010 Document number 11 was "Penn Supplemental Form for FAFSA Applicants". In 2011 Document number 11 was "Parent's Most Recent Tax Return and W2's." To find the documentation received for a particular student or group of students, use eitherthe FA_STANDARD_DOCS or FA_TRK_RPT table.

Source

  • Data are extracted nightly from the Student Aid Management system (SAM) on the administrative mainframe.
