CM_FND_APR_CURRENT_PROPOSAL Table

dwcat_cm.cm_fnd_apr_current_proposal

Explanation

Contains detail information about proposals for changes to Foundational Approaches that are assigned to courses, for proposals that are currently in the CIM workflow. Foundational Approaches are used in the School of Arts and Sciences to identify key learning goals in the curriculum. If a course is assigned to a Foundational Approach, successful completion of that course would mean the student met the related degree requirement associated with that Foundational Approach.

Common Uses

  • Find the status and next queue for current Foundational Approach proposals
  • Find proposals queued up for review in a specific Committee Term.

Cautions

  • Foundational Approaches are course attributes used by the School of Arts and Sciences.
  • Contains only one row per proposal: the most recently introduced proposal for the foundational approach/course.
  • The most recently approved record is also found in the CM_FND_APR_HISTORY table, with the MOST_RECENTLY_APPROVED_YN flag set to 'Y'. In other words, when a proposal is complete, until and unless a new proposal for the same foundational approach/course is introduced, that 'complete' record can be found in both CM_FND_APR_CURRENT_PROPOSAL and CM_FND_APR_HISTORY.
  • Foundational Approaches, like Sectors, are managed in CM in relation to a Course. A proposal involves the approval of associating an existing Foundational Approach type to a course. The introduction and approval of new Foundational Approach type codes is outside of Curriculum Management.
