Applicant ID |
An identifying number, assigned by the Graduate Admissions system,
to each applicant. This column cannot be null.
When an applicant is admitted and matriculates to
Penn,
the Applicant_ID is loaded to the Student Records System along with
their other biographic, demographic, and academic information.
Note that
to uniquely identify rows requires both the Applicant_ID and
the Record
Source. |
Application Term |
The term which the applicant, if admitted, anticipates starting their studies at Penn. This column is usually in SRS format: YYYYT, where YYYY is the full calendar year, and T is the SRS Term (A = Spring, B = Summer, C = Fall). |

A 1 in any of these columns indicates the applicant has self-identified as African American, either from a specific continent category/categories, or in a non-specified category. If the "AFR_AMER_OTHER" column has the value of 1, there can be free-form text entered into the AFR_AMER_OTHER_TEXT column providing additional information. |

A 1 in any of these columns indicates the applicant has self-identified as American Indian, either in a specific nation category/categories, or in a non-specified nation category. A 1 in any of these columns indicates the applicant has self-identified as Asian, either from a specific country/geographic area category/categories, or in a non-specified category. If the "ASIAN_OTHER_EAST" column has the value of 1, there can be free-form text entered into the ASIAN_OTHER_EAST_TEXT column providing additional information. If the "ASIAN_OTHER_INDIAN" column has the value of 1, there can be free-form text entered into the ASIAN_OTHER_INDIAN_TEXT column providing additional information. |

Record_Source |
For records that come from the Apply Yourself system, Record_Source will have a value of 'AY.' Schools not participating in AY will have a record source of the school or division code. |

SRS_Ethnicity_Race |
The code used in SRS for this applicant's ethnicity/race. SRS has a limited number of values for ethnicity/race, and can only hold one value per student. The IPEDs data are converted to SRS values when an applicant is admitted, according to pre-established business rules.
Values:
[Null] Not specified
A American Indian/Alaskan native. A person having origins
in any of the original peoples of North America and who
maintains cultural identification through tribal affiliation
or community recognition.
B Black, Non-Hispanic. A person having origins in any of the
black racial groups of Africa.
C White, Non-Hispanic. A person having origins in any of the
original peoples of Europe, North Africa, or the Middle East.
O Other
R Asian or Pacific Islander. A person having origins in any
of the original peoples of the Far East, South East Asia,
the Indian subcontinent or the Pacific Islands. This area
includes China, Japan, Korea, The Philippine Islands and Samoa.
S Hispanic. A person of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, Central
or South American or other Spanish culture or origin,
regardless of race.
X Multiple/mixed ethnicity.
