A one or two character code for the ethnicity category used in Apply Yourself (AY). The codes compy with the IPEDS standard groupings of ethnicity categories. Applicants self-select their ethnicity from valid choices, determined by a list of values which must match or be a sub-set of the codes in the GA_Ethnicity_Codes table.

The one character code in the Student Records System (SRS), to which the AY_Ethnic_Code has been mapped. SRS has a more limited list of values for Race/Ethnicity than IPEDS, so the IPEDS codes are mapped to the closest appropriate code in SRS. For example:

AY_Ethnic_Code 'VL' (Vietnamese-Laotian-Cambodian) maps to the SRS code 'R' (Asian or Pacific Islander)
